Webhook
An automatic HTTP message one system sends to another when something happens.
A webhook is an automatic notification that one system sends to another over HTTP when an event happens. Instead of asking "anything new?" every few seconds, your system is told straight away.
WhatsApp webhooks
Meta sends webhooks to your platform for events such as new messages, delivery and read receipts, and template status changes.
Whatsuite webhooks
Whatsuite can send webhooks to your own systems, for example when:
- A new message or contact arrives.
- A conversation is assigned or closed.
- A campaign message is delivered, read or fails.
- A bot reaches a step you choose.
Good practice
- Verify the signature on every request.
- Respond quickly and process the work in the background.
- Handle retries, because the same event can arrive more than once.
Webhooks pair with the public API: webhooks tell you what happened, the API lets you act on it.
